As mentioned in the previous post, the U.S. is one of only a few countries in the world to have a two-party political system. Because of this we are stuck in a constant state of gridlock, our many problems are becoming worse by the day, and our quality of life is deteriorating. On top of that, our democracy is now being threatened as never before.
Democracy is a moderate form of government and our Founding Fathers were moderates. Unfortunately, our two major political parties are becoming more extreme and moving further apart leaving a huge gap in the middle. The Democratic and Republican Parties have been controlling our politics since the 1850’s. It has worked in the past but it works no more and a growing proportion of people realize it. This should be considered an opportunity for change.
We need a party to represent moderate conservatives and moderate liberals. Moderates don’t allow ideology to impact their decision making. We use facts, data, and science-based logic to make our decisions and to do things that make sense.
We need a party to act as a tie-breaker party to end gridlock and start our country moving forward again. We need a party to clean up our corrupt political system which the existing two-party political system has proved unwilling to do.
We need a party that will implement the will of the American people. Our government keeps implementing policies that be go against what public opinion polls say the majority of American people want, such as addressing climate change.
We need a party to put things back into balance. With regard to finances, the rich are getting richer and the middle class is disappearing. As I used to say when I was running for Congress, a country without a middle class is a third-world country. On top of that, our national debt is surging. None of this is sustainable.
The vast majority of people in the U.S. are Christians although they are leaving the church in droves because of, as Pew Research puts it, “Christians doing un-Christian things”. We need a party to represent center-right and center-left Christians who don’t have a party that represents their values.
While attempts have been made in the past to get third party candidates elected to the presidency, they were unsuccessful. The main reason is that they tried to start at the top and work down. We need to start at the bottom and work up with a grass roots effort to first form a party. The next step is then to get candidates elected to local and state offices and begin to clean up our corrupt political system.
Luckily there is a start-up in place which is working to do that – The Alliance Party (theallianceparty.com). This party is relatively new and needs your support. Just remember that it is becoming increasingly clear that a third major political party serving moderate conservatives and moderate liberals is the only way of saving our democracy and your financial future.
